Forum Annual Event – Thursday 12th September 2019
A Free Day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for Forum Members
This year’s Annual Event has been themed to match members’ interests and preparations and excitement is building. There are many digital, health and wellbeing contributors, taster sessions and information stalls to enjoy and get help from.
As usual, the Forum Annual General Meeting will be held in the marquee and all members are encouraged to attend. This is your Forum and the AGM is an opportunity to voice your views about how it is run and what it does. In response to feedback received, we are keeping the session shorter this year but it will be packed full of content with a keynote talk on Innovative Ageing by researchers at Swansea University, the latest from the Welsh Government from Julie Morgan AM, Deputy Minister, Health and Social Services, with the Carmarthenshire County Council 50+ Champion, Cllr. Linda Evans completing the line-up. The University researchers also will be giving more details of their ground breaking work in Theatr Botanica at various times during the afternoon.
Principality House in the Garden will be a Digital Hub for the day where there will be a variety of hands on and advice Workshops covering the key issues that the membership has identified. Come along and see how modern digital services can be accessed safely and put to good use. Digital Communities Wales will be presenting information on using technology for better physical and mental health and the Police and two major banks will be running hands-on sessions covering family tree research, how to access digital services and how to stay safe online (and offline as scams come in a variety of guises). You are welcome to bring your own smart phone or tablet to these sessions though there will be some equipment available to use.
By the way, we are still looking for volunteers on the day to help out, especially to act as information guides for an hour or so at various times during the day to help members get to where they want to go. If this is not for you, please ask your friends and relatives if they would be interested in making the day as successful as possible for all who attend. If you would like more information about
is involved, please contact the Forum Secretary Sandra Llewelyn at firstname.lastname@example.org or via 01267 224692.
